Employee’s Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provision Act

The goal of this Act is to offer compulsory contributory funds and old age welfare benefits such as Provident Fund, Pensions for the future of an employee after their retirement

Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Act

This act basically provides financial and medical assistance to the employees and their families when an employee is unable to execute his or her tasks due to illness, injury on the job, or maternity leave

Factory Act

The Factories Act has three major objectives:  to regulate working conditions in a factory, to control occupational health and safety, and annual leave, and to improve working conditions for young people, women, and children who work in factories, especially in manufacturing environments). 

Contract Labour Act (CLRA)

Contract Labour Act (CLRA) applies to companies employing 20 or more contract labourers and to all contractors who employ 20 or more contract labourers. The Act aims to minimize the exploitation of the contract labour class, while reducing the working conditions gap between a contract and a full-time employee. Contract workers may not be eligible for all the benefits entitled to full-time employees but are entitled to basic services like washrooms, canteen, and occupational safety working conditions. 

Shops & Establishment Act

The Shop and Establishment Act regulates a variety of aspects related to the operation of a shop or commercial establishments like business offices, manufacturing facilities, warehouses, stores, hotels, restaurants, hospitals, theatres, charitable trusts, and educational institutions run for monetary gains. The act includes areas like governance of holidays, wages, work and break hours, leave and absence, workplace safety, etc

Minimum Wages Act

Minimum Wages Act was regulated to ensure that employers did not exploit employees with insufficient wages. This act has been enforced to ensure a sustainable standard of living while preventing labour exploitation

Profession Tax Act

The profession Tax act is a state levied mandate for people earning an income by way of either practicing a profession, freelancing, or employment. Self-employed people like website developers, financial planners, shop owners, who carry out their profession or trade on their own and fall in the ambit of profession tax are liable to pay taxes to the state government

Workmen’s Compensation Act

The Workmen’s Compensation Act offers compensation to workers during occupational injuries due to an employment-based accident. This act ensures that the laborers maintain their rights after any disability or death due to such injuries.

Maharashtra Labour Welfare Fund (LWF) Act

Maharashtra labour welfare fund (LWF) was enacted to provide financial welfare and social security to labourers for improving their working conditions and uplifting their standard of living. Each state has a separate welfare fund (Maharashtra labour welfare fund act vs Gujrat labour welfare fund act vs Karnataka labour welfare act) providing different provisions while maintaining the same underlying theme of social and economic benefits
